James Hallowell, aged 87 years, died very suddenly at the home of his son, Milton Hallowell, six miles north of Darlington at noon today. Mr. Hallowell as an old pioneer of this County and a remarkable man in many ways. Up to the time of his death he had never been sick, not for an hour in his 87 years. He suddenly grew dizzy yesterday and his life faded out at noon. The funeral will occur at 1 o'clock tomorrow from the family residence conducted by Rev. Broomfield. Interment at Odd Fellow's Cemetery. - kbz

James Hallowell, aged 87 years, died Tuesday morning at the home of his son, Milton Hallowell, six miles north of Darlington. The funeral occurred Wednesday at 1 o’clock, the services being conducted by the Rev. Mr. Broomfield. The interment was at the I. O. O. F. Cemetery at Darlington. Mr. Hallowell had been a resident of this county for many years and was a man honored and esteemed by all. Although a very old man he had never been sick until seized by what proved to be his fatal illness. - s
